FAQs

What are Wine Walks?

Wine Walks are designed to allow you to sample wine and food from several different restaurants for one great price. Purchase a wristband from a participating restaurant for $40. Then walk to as many participating restaurants as you like, where you will sample three wines and a variety of foods chosen to pair with the wines. In 2015 we will also be offering two Beer Walks.

Do I have to walk?

Most people walk, especially in good weather. However, the Doubletree Hotel has a van that will transport you and free carriage rides are also available.

What is Restaurant Week?

Restaurant Week is a perfect time to sample the variety of cuisines and experiences available in downtown South Bend at a special price. These events are held twice a year, typically in January or February and again in June or July. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to Memorial Children’s Hospital in downtown South Bend.

Do I need reservations during Restaurant Week?

Most restaurants fill up quickly on the weekends and may be less busy on Monday or Tuesday. We encourage making a reservation at those restaurants that accept them so you can ensure you get to go when and where you’d like. You can visit each restaurant’s web site to see if they accept reservations and, in some cases, you can make your reservation online. We recommend making your reservation as much in advance as possible.

What is included in the price during Restaurant Week?

Participating restaurants will develop a special menu that is included in their Restaurant Week pricing. Be sure to look at the menus available here, and on the restaurants’ web sites to confirm what is – and is not – included. If you have questions, be sure to ask your server BEFORE ordering your meal.

Do I tip my server the same, even though the meal is discounted?

Yes. As part of Restaurant Week our members are offering discounts on your meal. But your server is working just as hard as always to ensure you have a great dining experience. Please be sure to tip your servers based on the regular price of a similar meal, NOT on the discounted price.

How flexible are the special menus?

Participating restaurants offer specific choices that are a part of their special pricing packages during Restaurant Week. Typically they are not flexible on these meals because they have planned them carefully in advance to accommodate food costs and the discount they are providing. During this type of promotion restaurants tend to offer fewer choices for each course. However, if you don’t see something you like, you are always welcome to order from the regular menu and the rest of your party can enjoy the specially discounted meal options.
